Scoliosis

What is Scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine, which can be structural (fixed) or functional (due to muscular or postural imbalances). While it often develops during adolescence, it can also occur in adults and contribute to pain, stiffness, and fatigue.
Symptoms of Scoliosis
- Uneven shoulders, hips, or ribcage
- Visible curvature of the spine
- Muscle tightness or imbalance on one side of the body
- Back, neck, or hip pain
- Limited spinal mobility or flexibility
- Fatigue from standing or walking for long periods
How Osteopathy Can Help
At Forme, we work with the body’s natural mechanics to reduce tension, improve mobility, and support better balance in and around the spine — whether scoliosis is mild, moderate, or more complex.
Using gentle hands-on techniques such as:
- Releasing tight muscles that pull the spine into an uneven curve
- Improving mobility in restricted spinal segments to support more symmetrical movement
- Addressing compensatory strain patterns in the pelvis, hips, and shoulders
- Supporting postural alignment to reduce uneven load on the spine
- Enhancing respiratory mechanics by improving rib cage and diaphragm mobility
- Reducing inflammation and muscular fatigue from asymmetrical loading
- Promoting healthy circulation and lymphatic flow around the spine and ribs
- Supporting nervous system regulation to reduce protective muscle tension
Osteopathy helps manage scoliosis by improving spinal alignment, reducing muscle tension, and promoting better body balance and movement.
